Cafco ® SBR Bonding Latex - Styrene Butadiene Latex
INTRODUCTION
CAFCO® SBR Bonding Latex is a single pack, synthetic latex for use as a keycoat for fire protective coatings. It is spray applied after first mixing with Cafco MANDOLITE® HS3.
CAFCO® SBR Bonding Latex forms part of the Cafco MANDOLITE® CP2 and Cafco MANDOLITE® HS3 passive fire protection systems and is designed for application to primed steel or concrete substrates.
After mixing with Cafco MANDOLITE® HS3, CAFCO® SBR Bonding Latex forms a tough, textured, strongly adhering mechanical keycoat. Once the mixture has cured, neat Cafco MANDOLITE® CP2 or Cafco MANDOLITE® HS3 can be applied over it.
Building types that will benefit from the use of CAFCO® SBR Bonding Latex include a wide range of educational, leisure and entertainment centres, or commercial or industrial projects.

Please contact Promat Technical Department to confirm compatibility of the primer with CAFCO® SBR Bonding Latex |
| Substrate preparation |
The substrate shall be clean, dry and free from visible moisture (including condensation), dust, loose millscale, loose rust, oil and any other condition preventing good adhesion
|
| Application |
| Methods |
Add 1 volume of water to 1 volume of CAFCO® SBR Bonding Latex. Add 20kg of Cafco MANDOLITE® HS3 to 17kg of diluted CAFCO® SBR Bonding Latex and stir for 3 minutes
Apply with a rotor/stator type spray machine, or for small areas a gravity fed hopper gun, to give 20-50% coverage of substrate
|
| Limitations |
CAFCO® SBR Bonding Latex may be applied when the substrate and air temperatures are at least 2ºC and rising. Maximum substrate and air temperature is 45ºC Substrate temperature should be at least 2ºC above dew point temperature
