Following a recent test program at a UKAS accredited test laboratory, SprayFilm WB3 thin film intumescent coating, manufactured by Alfreton based Cafco International, has become the first water based product to be able to provide fire ratings up to two hours on a wide range of steel sections, in accordance with BS 476 Part 21.

17/10/2003 - Tunnel Fires – Devastating!

In March 1996, a lorry fire in Switzerland’s Mont Blanc Tunnel triggered a major disaster. The ensuing conflagration reached a temperature of 1,000ºC in just ten minutes and cost the lives of 38 people and the loss of 37 vehicles.

John Swindlehurst, previously Managing Director/President of Carboline/Nullifre in the USA, has joined the Alfreton based passive fire protection (PFP) systems manufacturer as Director of Sales Development for Intumescent Products. He brings with him forty years of technical, commercial and market acumen in the fields of PFP intumescent systems and corrosion protection.
