Promat Fire Proofing chosen for Arzew LNG Terminal

Promat has supplied its Cafco FENDOLITE® MII system as a primary part of the scheme to protect the GL2-Z LNG train project in Arzew, Algeria. The new train is being developed by the IHI Group for SONATRACH to expand capacity and meet increasing world demand for natural gas supplies.
Cafco FENDOLITE® MII is the industry-leading, passive fire protection system and has been used to protect steel structures and vessel skirts from fire attack at Arzew.
Over 1,500 tons of Cafco FENDOLITE® MII will be used on the project and applied by the Franco-Algerian fire protection specialists Travomed– Prezioso JV. Promat partners an unrivalled International network of Recognised Contractors who supply and install the systems in Petrochemical plant applications.
Promat was selected to supply Cafco FENDOLITE® MII for this project because they provide unequalled service, quality, fitness for purpose, whole life value and availability that has been demonstrated in service worldwide over 30 years. Cafco FENDOLITE® MII is UL approved and manufactured in eleven factories worldwide. Cement is used as the main binding agent to link the insulating components.

Promat and Travomed have previously supplied SONATRACH in excess of 1,000 tons of Cafco FENDOLITE® MII for GL1-Z LNG train in Arzew.
The city of Arzew is situated about 400km west of Algiers. Algeria has proven natural gas reserves of 4.5 trillion cubic metres, which amounts to about 2.6% of the global reserves, and is the world's fourth-largest gas producer, supplying 25% of the EU's natural gas imports.
